So you have a book. You've sweated over a manuscript, written a potential best seller, edited it, and now you need a publisher. I don't want to be too negative but now the hard work starts.
You will have to develop a thick skin, unless you are one of the very lucky ones. You will face rejection, sometimes to the point of rudeness. Take heart, if you have confidence and your writing is of publishing quality, then you stand as good a chance as any other writer.
Invest in a copy of the Writers & Artists Year Book or similar. This will provide much of the info' you require eg agents, publishers and featured writers - this will be your reference point for the next twelve months. Another handy reference point is Bookopedia, here you will find a FREE list of publishers agents an general book advice.
Draw up a battle plan. You must be organised, and thorough. The world of publishing is very competitive, and if you are to succeed, you will need to be determined.
If you cannot find an agent or a publisher you may prefer to choose the POD option (print on demand), you will find a useful article on this website. Remember, even Charles Dickens had to self publish, so you are in good company.
Finally Good Luck - it's not all doom and gloom, there is always room for real talent!
